The Thornton Lions are part of the largest service organization in the world. As part of Lions District A12 we have been involved with our community since we were formed in April of 1975. We have, through various fund raising activities, helped numerous community efforts. Over the years, the Thornton Lions have supported Thornton Minor Hockey, Youth Soccer and Baseball teams, the Thornton library, the Fireman's association, the Thornton Figure Skating Club, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, Ontario Special Olympics and many more.
We have assisted our local youth in their efforts around the globe as they learn and take a hands-on approach  with  humanitarian work in underdeveloped regions. Through the many programs within the International Lions framework we are involved with effective speaking at our primary schools,  Vision testing for children [with teams traveling to all our primary schools] and, our newest involvement,  No Child Without.
No Child Without is a charitable program that offers all elementary school aged children with medical conditions or allergies, free MedicAlert  protection regardless of their financial resources.
In the Simcoe and Muskoka counties we have built, maintained and supported programs at summer camps for youth and adults. The Lions of A12 and Lions around Ontario are very proud of the on-going success of CNIB Lake Joe, Camp Dorset, Camp Huronda and The Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf.
